Formation

Our club started out in June 2025 when a group of work colleagues wanted to raise money for charity - so, a team was formed to play a charity match in aid of MacMillan (NI) - after this match - they where offered to play another team this time at Seaview.

After this match the initial team disbanded - however the bug stuck!

After much painstaking work to form a committee, a constitution, insurance, bank account etc - we officially became Bangor Rovers FC in September 2025.

Club Ethos

Our club was founded on the belief that football is more than just a game - it's a way to connect, grow, and support one another.

We stand on the strong foundations of mental health awareness, inclusion and compassion, creating a safe space for everyone to enjoy the beautiful game, both on and off the pitch.

Our Core Values

Mental Health Matters - We recognise that every player. coach, volunteer and supporter has their own journey.  We foster an environment where mental health is openly discussed, respected and supported.  We work to reduce stigma, promote well being and encourage open conversations without fear or judgement.

Inclusion For All - Our club is open to everyone - regardless of background, ability or experience.  We understand that social anxiety and other challenges can make joining a team feel daunting, so we go the extra mile to make each person feel welcome, valued and understood.

Connection Through Football - The club believes football brings people together.  We use the sport to build friendships, confidence and community.  We celebrate small steps - showing up, joining in and feeling part of something positive.

Supportive Environment - Our club is a safe space. Coaches and team leaders are trained to be understanding, patient and approachable. Whether your on the pitch or watching from the sidelines, you'll be met with encouragement, empathy and respect, of which we would also expect in return.

Growth And Empowerment - We believe personal development is just as important as athletic achievement.  Through football, we empower members to grow in confidence, manage challenges and find the joy in progress - however small.
